Walnut Wows in Streeterville!
Natural walnut cabinets provide the “wow” for this previously dark, outdated kitchen in downtown Streeterville. The textured backsplash tile inspired the gold toned faucet and door pulls. Lighting was improved with a ceiling track light and undercabinet lights. Storage space was increased with 2 tall cabinets–one for food and one for brooms and tall items. A spot was created for a chair at the countertop–perfect for a snack or perusing recipes.
Niles
Construction has started at my clients’ Midcentury Modern house in Niles. Since there are only 2 bathrooms, the owners chose to start work on the larger main bathroom first. Demolition has been accomplished, as you can see in the photos below. There is a lot of work to be done before the cool, capsule shaped tile goes up on the walls, but check out the design drawings for now.
Lincoln Park
A lovely house on a small street in Lincoln Park had an addition and renovations done many years ago. At the time, the kitchen was left for later and now that time has finally arrived. Switching out the island for a peninsula creates a larger cooking area and opens up the entire space. The cabinets will be a mix of sage gray/green and walnut. Built in banquette seating will replace the chairs in the dining area to create an inviting, cozy corner for meals and entertaining.
