Nature-Inspired Bathroom in Andersonville
SCOPE: renovate an outdated bathroom to create a peaceful retreat
A woman looking for a new start moved to a spacious duplex in Andersonville. The only room needing renovation was the dark, outdated main bathroom. She hoped that her small 10’x5’ bathroom could be transformed to feel open, light and bright in a modern style that reflected her love of nature. The space she envisioned would feel peaceful and be a place where she could relax and renew. Additionally it should have ample storage and emphasize safety and durability.
To achieve these goals, non-slip porcelain tile in shades of white ground the space and mimic a sandy beach. The tub is accented by a natural river rock “rug” which welcomes one in for a soak. The wall tile was selected for its perfect shade of sea blue and its hand-glazed watercolor texture.
A niche in the shower provides a spot for bottles, while the grab bar offers a safe way to enter the deep soaking tub. A floating vanity in Hoary oak wood contributes to the overall open feel while housing large drawers. Luxuries such as heated floors, a hand-held shower head and a washlet toilet give this bathroom a spa-like feel. Plants, stones and glass accessories add the final touch to this nature-inspired home spa. The room is now exactly how the homeowner envisioned her retreat.
